Nigeria’s sports minister, Sunday Akinlabi Dare has declared a rain of graduated cash rewards for the country’s medalists at the 2021 World Athletics Championship in Nairobi, Kenya, where $5,000 will go for gold winners, $3,000 for those who get silver and $2,000 for bronze.
Megasportsarena.com reports that the announcement came after two more gold medals and a bronze on Saturday saw Nigeria move to third on the table at the championship in Kenya where 200 countries are competing. Nigeria is 3rd on the medals table so far.
Nigeria’s mixed 4×400m relay team started the gold rush before Imaobong Nse Uko (400m women) and Udodi Onwuzurike (200m men) won the finals of their events in dominant fashion. Favour Ofili (200m women) and Chinacherem Nnamdi (Javelin) won bronze medals.
Dare had promised the athletes before the championships began that those who do the nation proud will be handsomely rewarded, a statement that has now seen the light of day, and the cash awards are bound to motivate the team in their remaining events.
At the close of Day 4, Team Nigeria had recorded her best ever outing in history at the global youth championship, up to third place on the medals table behind the hosts Kenya and surprise package Finland.
There are expectations of more podium finishes for the country in the male and female 4×100m as well as 4×400m for women on Sunday, the final day of the championship, where Nigerian athletes are for the first time being financially rewarded for their performances.

I was just seeking this info for some time. After six hours of continuous Googleing, finally I got it in your site. I wonder what’s the lack of Google strategy that don’t rank this kind of informative web sites in top of the list. Normally the top sites are full of garbage.
