Crotone of Italy striker, Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo (Simy) has gained superlative words of praise from his club president, Gianni Vrenna, who described the Super Eagles rookie as ‘an exemplary player.’
Vrenna served the verdict after ‘Simy’ sealed a contract extension with the Italian second-tier club, which the striker said he will remain loyal to for shaping his career and grooming him on the right track.
‘Simy’ disclosed that he grew as a man and a footballer at Crotone, while also becoming a father along the line, for which he thanked the club for always trusting in him.
Such it is that Crotone continue rating ‘Simy’ high, despite his inability to save them from relegation last season and failure to fire them back to the top-flight in the current campaign.
Despite the collective downturn of fortunes hitting the club, ‘Simy’ has impressed personally since arriving from Gil Vicente of Portugal in 2016, with 25 goals to his name from 82 appearances for the Serie B side.
Ironically, ‘Simy’ had been set to leave Crotone in January, with concrete links coming his way from RSC Anderlecht of Belgium and Olympiakos of Greece, but he eventually opted to stay put, after a conflict of agents.
However, megasportsarena.comm gathered that he would have left as a free agent next month, until he put pen to paper in a three-year deal on Monday, which will keep him with The Red & Blue until June 2022.
Following the striker’s contract extension, Vrenna declared: “Simy is an exemplary professional, an excellent guy both on and off the field.
“He joined the Rossoblu family three years ago and won everyone with his generosity and his goals. We are very satisfied with the agreement that has been reached.”
