Liverpool of England winger, Sheyi Ojo is set to finally leave Anfield in a full transfer this summer, following reports that The Reds are ready to sell him for £5m, megaspportsarena.com reports.
With the dark-skinned former England youth international failing to tie down a spot in The Reds’ main squad since breaking unto the scene, top shots at the Merseyside outfit are thinking of cashing in on the Nigerian-born lad.
In five years at Anfield, the 23-year-old Ojo has become almost an outcast, with only eight appearances for The Reds during the 2015/16 campaign, following which he had loan spells with Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham of England in recent seasons, as well as two years in the French Ligue 1 with SC Reims.
In the previous transfer window, Ojo reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Middlesbrough, while Nottingham Forest also considered a £10m offer for the youngster, who spent time with Liverpool’s main team in their pre-season tour of United States.
This summer, Ojo had already attracted interest from numerous English Championship clubs, including Nottingham Forest, Huddersfield Town and Reading, but nothing concrete has come his way.
A report by Liverpool Echo has now revealed that the former European champions are already seeking a buyer for Ojo, who made 11 appearances and got a goal during the 2015/16 season – but he has rarely had a sniff of senior action since.
Loans to Fulham, Reims, Rangers and Cardiff City have followed in recent years with varying success, though he did enough in South Wales for the latter to be interested in re-signing him while Club Brugge and Olympiakos are also credited with interest.
The report adds: “Previously still involved with the first team for pre-season, Ojo was left with the under-23s this season and now, aged 24, looks more than likely to move on before the window closes.
“(Ojo could leave) with a fee of around £5m not likely to be too far beyond expectations if the Reds are able to find him a permanent home as opposed to another loan exit.”
