Millwall of England summer signing, Sheyi Ojo has thanked the lower division club for giving him a platform where he can exhibit his talent on a regular basis, megasportsarena.com reports.
Ojo, who has previously played on loan from Liverpool of England at a number of clubs in and outside the country of his birth, added that he is eager to prove his mettle at his new base.
In spite of his inability to tie down a spot with The Reds, Ojo, who earlier played on loan at Cardiff City of Wales, believes he still has a bright future ahead of him at Anfield and hopes to prove that with Millwall.
His recent stints were unsuccessful at Reims of France and Glasgow Rangers of Scotland, but Ojo is now looking forward to a better run of fortune this season, as he stressed that he is happy with his loan move to Millwall.
The underachieving winger is now in his seventh loan deal away from Anfield, but Ojo, who also thanked Millwall’s coach for encouraging him, interjected that he has no regrets with the career projection he is facing, as playing football regularly is the most important thing.
The 24-year-old dark-skinned Nigerian-born former England youth international, who sealed a deadline day loan switch to The Lions, added that he is eager to showcase his ability and justify the trust reposed in him by the coach.
“We spoke on the phone and he said he really likes me as a player and has watched me for a couple of years now. He said he wants to give me the platform to express myself and show what I can do.
“The most important thing for me is to play football and show what I can do, and I’m thankful to Millwall who have given me the platform to do that,” Ojo told Millwall’s website.
