Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu has received a strong hint that he will return from injury on Saturday, as coach of his side, Paulo Sousa says he plans to use the Super Eagles’ star as a surprise package in the Ligue 1 home fixture against Reims.
Although fitness scares have been raised about Kalu, since he bowed out with injury in March and faced off-field worries over the kidnap of his mother, Sousa is still rating the lad high, and suggested that the former KAA Gent of Belgium youngster might even start Saturday’s game.
The 21-year-old last appeared for the former French champions in a 1-1 away draw away to AS Monaco on March 9, but Sousa hinted on Friday that Kalu is fit for a return to action at Stade Matmut-Atlantique.
Megasportsarena.com further reports that Kalu has missed Bordeauxβ last eight Ligue 1 games due to a hamstring injury, during which time his team won only one in the French top-flight.
The fast-rising attacker, who has only 216 minutes playing time in the Ligue 1 due to the injury, replaced Francois Kamano in the 61st minute of the last fixture he played for the side, but Sousa is now raising hope that Kalu will be back, better than ever starting on Saturday.
The Bordeaux gaffer declared: “Samuel Kalu can start against Reims. He can be that X Factor, that player who can bring us something.
“When I talk about power, fight, intention to score, he’s a player who will give us that.
”I hope that during the next season, there will be other players who can bring it on this moment of play.”
