Racing Genk of Belgium striker, Paul Ebere Onuachu has received the biggest hint of an impending summer exit from the club he joined just last season, as his replacement in the team has been spotted by their technical director, megasportsarena.com reports.
With the former Young Stars of Lagos, FC Ebedie of Shagamu and FC Midtjylland of Denmark hitman having played himself into the transfer shop window by emerging top scorer of the league this season, it is only a matter of time before his is prised away by a bigger club.
That is now bound to happen next month, as Genk’s technical director, Dimitri De Condé has confirmed that the club are eyeing up a summer move for Aston Villa of England’s Zimbabwean striker, Mbwana Samatta as Onuachu’s replacement.
It is looking more and more likely that the in-form Super Eagles star will depart Genk after an excellent season that has seen him score 34 goals for club and country, such that the Belgian Cup winners expect that they could be forced into selling the prolific striker.
Onuachu’s exit would be inevitable if Genk receive a bid in the region of 25 million euro, which means his former club in Denmark would receive a huge profit, as they inserted a sell-on clause into the deal that took the giant striker to Belgium in 2019.
He is now bound to make way for Samatta, who struggled at Villa after, incidentally, earlier arriving from Genk, with a paltry two goals in 16 games in 2020, before he was loaned out to Fenerbahçe of Turkey for the entirety of this season.
Condé has now served up the strongest hint about a possible exit for the tall Nigerian, as he told Het Laatste Nieuws: “Onuachu? He’s a top scorer, scoring 30 goals and turning 27.
“If a club puts an amount on the table that we cannot refuse, we will cooperate in a transfer. At the moment that offer is not available. Samatta is certainly on our list. But we are not going to do atypical Genk transfers.”
