Lille Metropole of France striker, Victor Osimhen has surprisingly emerged as a top bet for a January transfer move to Liverpool of England, even as several other clubs remain on the queue in the hunt for his signature, megasportsarena.com has gathered.
In contrast with previous reports that Tottenham Hotspur were in pole position to hook the former VfL Wolfsburg of Germany and Sporting Charleroi of Belgium attacker, an updated report by British bookmakers, William Hill has disclosed that Liverpool are now top favourites to sign Osimhen.
Transfer speculation continues swirling round Osimhen, in spite of Lille’s repeated declarations that the player is not for sale, and the latest report now indicates that his next likely destination could be Merseyside, as The Reds aim to outdo Spurs and other clubs that are said to be interested in the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup highest goals scorer.
Osimhen’s brilliant start to life in France, with 14 goals in 25 matches across all competitions, has also attracted interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham United of England as well as Real Madrid and Barcelona of Spain, but the bookmakers’ odds are now pointing in the direction of Liverpool as the team most likely to get him should he eventually leave Lille this month.
Dramatically, instead of a highly touted link with Jose Mourinho and his assistants, who used to be in the crew at Lille, Spurs are no longer in pole position to snatch Osimhen if he is to move before February 1st, as Barca and Real are now said to be joint-second in the race to get him.
Spurs have also fallen behind their London-based rivals that are all still in the race for Osimhen’s signature, with West Ham and Chelsea next in line behind Liverpool, Barca and Real, while the odds put Tottenham sixth in the pecking order for the Super Eagles’ rookie.
However, Lille’s president, Gérard Lopez is not ready to sell Osimhen this month, as he is eager to hoping to keep the lad his club signed for 12m euros from Charleroi in August and the striker, who is now valued at 70m euros, has a contract that runs till end of the 2023/24 season.
