Barcelona Femeni of Spain attacker, Asisat ‘Super Zee’ Oshoala has promised to keep supporting female para-soccer players and to keep sponsoring a competition for them through her social support and youth development foundation.
Megasportsarena.com reports that the four-time African Women Footballer of The Year and current captain of Nigeria’s female national team, Super Falcons, stated as much at the final of her maiden competition in Lagos.
The Asisat Oshoala Para-Soccer Championship and Girls’ Football Tourney was the first edition and the 26-year-old star, who also donated wheelchairs to the players after the final declared that it will henceforth be an annual affair.
The former FC Robo Queens of Lagos, Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt, Liverpool Ladies and Arsenal Women of England as well as Dalian Quajian of China star added that she floated the foundation to give hope to the African girl-child through education and sports.
She, however, took her philanthropic act beyond girls and decided to award amputees as well in organizing a four-day event tagged Para-Soccer Championship & Girls’ Football Tourney, which attracted esteemed dignitaries to the final.
Mrs Bolanle Ambode, Engineer Noah Dallaji, Peter Okoye, Ayo Makun and many others were on hand to see Team Noah Dallaji defeat Team Asisat 1-0 to emerge champions and get one million Naira, while all participants also shared Oshoala’s total donation of 100 wheelchairs.
Oracle Queens defeated FC Phoenix Queens 2-1 to emerge winners of the girls normal football competition, following which they also got a cash prize of one million Naira, with the sponsor and her guests all looking happy and gay on the evening.
