Despite both failing to catch the fancy of Nigerian football fans and Super Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr, the duo of Paul Ebere Onuachu and Anthony Nwakaeme keeps hitting goals with reckless abandon at their respective clubs.
Megasportsarena.com reports that so it was again on Friday, as Nwakaeme hit another brace of goals with Trabzonspor of Turkey, while Onuachu took his haul for the season to nine beauties in the colours of Racing Genk of Belgium.
While highly-celebrated Cyriel Dessers, last season’s joint-top scorer in Holland, continues struggling with Genk, the Belgian club’s hero continues being Onuachu, who again made hay with his team on Friday and remains the leading scorer in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
This time out, Dessers also hit target, as Onuachu netted his ninth goal of the season and has now equaled his total tally of last season, as Genk thrashed KAS Eupen 4-0, with the lanky lad scoring one from the penalty spot and assisting his compatriot on another early in the second half.
Dessers, who made his Eagles debut in a friendly against Tunisia earlier this month but has been left out of next month’s 2021 AFCON qualifiers versus Sierra Leone, has now scored three goals and helped Genk go fourth on the table with 19 points from 11 matches, one behind shock leaders Royal Antwerp.
In Turkey, Nwakaeme scored twice for Trabzonspor against Kasimpasa but it was not enough to give his club victory, as they fell 4-3 at home in their Turkish Super Lig fixture.
Nwakaeme has now scored three goals this season after he netted 11 goals last term, as the former Hapoel Be’er Sheva of Israel hitman notched target in the 31st and 38th minutes of Friday’s game, after he assisted in his team’s opening goal.
Although Nwakaeme continues banging goals and his form has never abated, Trabzonspor’s woes continue to mount with each passing game and they are now languishing in 18th place on the Lig table with five points from seven matches.
