Olisa Ndah Declares: Nigeria Has Capacity To Win Africa Cup Of Nations

Orlando Pirates of South Africa defender, Olisa Ndah has come out with a heartwarming verdict that the current set of players in Nigeria’s national team, Super Eagles, have the capacity to win the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, megasportsarena.com reports.

Although he is in the senior squad for the first time ever, the former Remo Stars of Ikenne and Akwa United of Uyo central defender is already beaming with hope and anticipation, while hoping to play his own part in making history with the squad at AFCON 2021.

The 23-year-old stopper, who was a member of the Nigerian under-23 squad, Olympic Eagles, that failed to qualify for Tokyo 2020 Games, got an invitation to star in Cameroon courtesy of his sterling exploits with Pirates, where he has 13 top-flight league appearances so far this season.

Ndah, who was part of the home-based Eagles’ squad that lost 4-0 to Mexico in an international friendly staged in United States in July, will now compete for a place in the Eagles’ defence line alongside Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem, as well as vice-captain William Troost-Ekong and late call-up, Semi Ajayi, who has replaced Leon Aderemi Balogun in the roster.

While hoping to get into the starting line-up from the Eagles’ first game, against Egypt on January 11, Ndah thatnked God for making his invitation possible and admitted that he already feels highly honoured to earn a spot for the impending continental soccer showpiece, which starts on January 9 in Yaoundé.

Ndah said: “I’m grateful to God to be here. It was really a surprise to me and I’m thankful for this opportunity. We have a lot of good players, we have the capacity to win the Africa Cup of Nations, so I’m just going to do my best, play my part and hopefully everything works out good.”
