Okonkwo Hopes To Gain Regular First Choice Action In English Premier League

Arsenal of England goalkeeper, Arthur Okonkwo has confessed that he is eagerly looking forward to the day he would get regular first team action in the English Premier League.

Megasportsarena.com reports that, although he is now third choice at Arsenal, the Nigerian-born lad admitted he might not get the aspiration he desires with The Gunners, hence his readiness for a loan move.

While acknowledging that regular playing time in a top-flight club would boost his career, Okonkwo admitted that he would relish the chance to get first team experience on loan next season.

The exuberant lad, who was promoted to The Gunners’ first team last summer, is yet to get a first team debut, with Aaron Ramsdale and Bernd Leno ahead of him in Mikel Arteta’s pecking order of goalkeepers.

Nonetheless, the 20-year-old shot-stopper has been keeping up his fitness by playing a couple of games for The Gunners’ development squad in English Premier League 2, when he is not on first team duties.

Nonetheless, a new lease of life might be heading the way of Okonkwo, who has been included in seven EPL matchday squads this season.

He has, however, remained an unused substitute, despite being on the bench three times in last season’s UEFA Europa League, which makes him believe he is good enough for first team action elsewhere.

Okonkwo told Goal.com: “Going out and getting some senior football will be very important to my career and future.

“Getting loads of games will prepare me for one day hopefully being No.1 and playing in the Premier League. That’s my goal.

“Then, my future goal is winning trophies. But it’s all in stages.

“I just have to keep working every day, staying focused and, hopefully, in time, it will come together.”
