Ogenyi Onazi Joins Italian 4th Division Club

Ogenyi Onazi has joined an Italian 4th division club, Casertana FC and was presented to the media and fans on Monday evening at the ‘Mario Iannotta’ press room of the ‘Pinto’ stadium, reports Megasportsarena.com.

Casertana FC announced on their website that they are, “pleased to announce that we have secured the sporting performance of footballer Ogenyi Eddy ONAZI.”

The 2013 AFCON winner with the Super Eagles of Nigeria has previously played in Italy, Turkey, Denmark, Lithuania & Saudi Arabia.

In a citation on the site, the club wrote:

“The former Super Eagles vice captain returns to Italy after wearing the SS Lazio shirt from 2011 to 2016. Winner of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013 with the Nigeria national team, silver medallist at the Under-17 World Cup, he took part with his country’s selection at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and that in Russia in 2018.

“With Lazio he wrote important pages. His is the decisive goal against Napoli that in 2015 allowed the Biancocelesti to return to the Champions League after eight years of absence. In August 2016 he was bought by the Turks of Trabzonspor with whose shirt he collected 69 appearances and 3 goals in three years in the serious maximum.

“In January 2020 the transition to Dinizlispor and then flew to Lithuania at Zalgiris. The last part of last season played with the Arabs of Al-Adalah.

“Still in the middle of his career (he will turn 30 on December 25), Onazi boasts screaming numbers: 76 appearances and 4 goals in Serie A, 24 appearances and 3 goals in the Europa League and 6 Champions League appearances.”
