Nigeria National League (NNL) chairman, Chief (Hon) Chidi Offor Okenwa has sent a message of condolence to the immediately family of Lobi Stars of Makurdi’s late coach, Solomon Ogbeide, who died on Monday.
In a press release signed by NNL media officer, Amar Ignis, Okenwa also expressed his condolences to the entire Lobi Stars players, coaches and management as well as Nigeria Football Coaches Association upon the passing of their colleague, whose death was due to low blood pressure.
Okenwa said he is still in shock with the news of Ogbeide’s death, which he said is had to swallow, and described it is a big loss to Nigerian league and the country’s football sector as a whole.
Megasportsarena.com reports that he noted further that the veteran indigenous coach, fondly called ‘Epa,’ was a man who made a significant mark in his chosen field, before he died at the age of 62 years.
While reacting to the reported cause of Ogbeide’s death, Okenwa also appealed to all Nigerian coaches, as a matter of importance, to ensure they undertake comprehensive periodic medical checks on their health.
He stressed that the NNL extend their genuine sympathy to Ogbeide’s family, the club and coaches association over the huge loss, for which he prayed that The Creator will grant the late tactician’s reposed soul peace and eternal perfect rest.
Okenwa added: “We are crest fallen at the very sad news ,the demise of our colleague, friend and brother.
“Solomon exhibited great prowess in coaching, looking at his exploits with Warri Wolves now playing in the NNL.
“(He was also with) Bendel Insurance, Julius Berger, Flash Flamingoes of Benin, Bendel United, NPA Warri and Sunshine Stars of Akure.”
