Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has taken the bold decision to put his honeymoon on hold till after the Africa Cup of Nations, as he wants to concentrate on doing well with the Super Eagles at the continental soccer showpiece in Egypt.
Ndidi is scheduled to join the Eagles’ camp in Asaba, Delta State on June 2, as they begin preparations towards a possible fourth conquest of the competition for Nigeria, and he has, therefore, opted to shift till a later date the love nest he is expected to have with his newly wedded wife.
The former Racing Genk of Belgium star has limited time, before joining the Eagles’ pre-AFCON camp, but sources close to the defender-turned-holding midfielder, who had his traditional marriage on Wednesday in Abuja, say he has plans for a long honeymoon planned after Egypt 2019.
The 22-year-old star tied nuptial knots with his long standing girlfriend, Fortune Dinma, who is a medical student and has known the Eagles’ battler all along, since they were teenagers and were dating for years.
In attendance at the wedding were Leicester mate, Kelechi Iheanacho, a handful of fellow-Eagles’ pals and Nigerian legend, Nwankwo Kanu, but the white wedding was also put on hold, along with the honeymoon.
Ndidi and his wife, who reportedly hails from Kogi State, had initially been billed to say ‘I DO’ on May 10th, but shifted the date due to a short holiday the Leicester star had with Iheanacho in France.
He apparently used the opportunity to do some shopping, as he finally gave a befitting traditional union to his heartthrob, who first brought to the public glare when he displayed her name on his boots for the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand.
The soccer star, who went on to display Fortune’s name on his boots again at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, has now been flaunted as the next ‘graduate from bachelorhood’ and no longer available to free girls.
That is the import of a commemorative message for Ndidi on social media, which read: “@Ndidi25 is off the market not transfer market.
“Congrats! #PoojaFootball. You can’t intercept as much as that in the Premier League & you will not intercept a lady for yourself.”
