Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi is heaping praises on his wife for helping him improve in all departments of his game, as she is always honest with him about his performances after each match he plays, megasportsarena.com reports.
While reacting to lavish commendations trailing his superlative performances and high-ranking statistics for the better part of this season in the English Premier League, Ndidi stressed that it is mostly due to his wife’s ability to keep him on his toes and put him back in line if he derails.
The ex-Racing Genk of Belgium midfield enforcer, who tied the nuptial knot with his girlfriend of four years, Fortune, at a traditional and white wedding ceremony on Wednesday, May 23 in Abuja, disclosed how much of an adviser his spouse has turned out to be for his career.
He and the medical student enacted a keen understanding from the very beginning, and the top-ranking Super Eagles’ star has now attributed his progress to healthy criticism and sound advice he gets from Mrs Fortune Dinma Ndidi, as well as equally productive words of wisdom from his coaches and teammates.
Incidentally, Ndidi’s friends are not limited to his colleagues in football, as his white wedding at National Ecumenical Centre and reception at Pitchvine Marquee Event Centre, both in Abuja, were graced by his best man, Collins Igbobi, who is one of his childhood pals but not a player.
His groomsmen included the CEO of Cretentive Media, Israel Adelaja, England-based Nigerian musician EBS and Don Daniel, a non-football friend based in England, Chris, and another from Belgium, Theo, all of who the midfielder has now cited among his pillars for porgress.
The dark-skinned lad, who welcomed to the world his first child, a baby girl named Jaina (Gracious God) on May 16, is now thanking his heartthrob and friends for helping him maintain top form since joined The Foxes in 2017 from Genk and believes they will help him to achieve more in years to come with their continued comments about his game.
Haven made 111 appearances in the EPL since arriving at King Power Stadium, Ndidi is currently regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the English top-flight and this season he has played 29 games for The Foxes across all competitions, while helping his side maintain third spot on the log – behind first placed Liverpool and current runners-up Manchester City.
As the season is nearing a restart next Wednesday, following 100 days of abeyance caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic across the world, Ndidi is upbeat that he will be able to maintain his superlative form once again, even as he heaped praises on his wife, friends, and coaches for helping him thus far with constructive criticism and good analysis of his outings.
Ndidi told the Super Eagles media: “My circle of friends is very small, and they are people who are straight in their assertions. Even at Leicester City, the players, the coaches, and the staff are straight with me. That alone is like an encouragement to me; they make me understand life in general and how I am performing.
“Kudos also must go to my wife; she is always honest with me as it concerns my game, telling me the right things and I don’t joke with her criticisms because I know she wants me to be a better player and my boss at Leicester too.”
