Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has been rated high alongside two of his colleague’s in The Foxes’ engine room, as former Liverpool captain, Graeme Souness has come out with a verdict that the Super Eagles’ star forms a near-perfect combination with Youri Tielemans and James Maddison.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that, while Ndidi has earned personal praise from various quarters for his sterling efforts since joining Leicester in 2017 from Racing Genk of Belgium, the latest round of praise is now according him a rare shower of collective accolades from Souness.
Such it is that The Reds’ icon believes Ndidi, Tielemans and Maddison were again outstanding at the weekend, in helping their club pull off a shock 4-1 victory away to Aston Villa, then went on to single out the Nigerian lad as ‘a clever passer’ of the ball.
That would recount Ndidi’s high marks last season, when he finished as Leicester’s pass master, after completing 1,984 passes and he has already enacted 793 in 15 matches so far in the current campaign, which Souness is quick to add to the lad’s scorecard and rating.
He went on to confess that he has been impressed a lot by Ndidi, who was also voted top tackler in the entire EPL for the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons, with additional high rating alongside Tielemans and Maddison, whose midfield combination Souness tagged among the world’s best.
Incidentally, Ndidi has made 69 tackles so far this season and only another one his Leicester teammates, Ricardo Pereira (70) has more in the ongoing campaign, but it is the Eagles’ player and his midfield duo that Souness gleefully singled out for commendation.
Souness submitted: ”I would suggest that Tielemans, Ndidi and Maddison, those three in midfield are as good as any three out there. The blend of them, the hard work, clever passing from Ndidi and Tielemans, and Maddison — he is a real craftsman. Extremely impressive.”
