Ndidi Gutted As Nigeria’s World Cup Dream Ends

Wilfred Ndidi has given his immediate reaction to the Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for this year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Nigeria came up against Ghana in a two-legged World Cup qualification play-off this week. A 0-0 draw on Friday was followed with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday night, with Ghana going through on away goals.

Megasportsarena.com reports that both Ademola Lookman and Kelechi Iheanacho were involved for Nigeria over the two legs, Lookman winning the penalty for Nigeria’s goal in the second leg in Abuja. Ndidi however was forced to watch from home after injuring his knee in the Europa Conference League clash vs Rennes.

It has been confirmed by Brendan Rodgers that the injury could keep the midfielder out until the end of the season. As he continues his recovery, Ndidi was keeping an eye on how his international teammates were getting on.

Immediately after the full-time whistle, the City man simply tweeted the word ‘wow’ alongside a crying emoji, seemingly showing his disbelief at the result. It’s the first time that Nigeria won’t be at a World Cup since 2006.
