Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl revealed forward Nathan Tella would be “out for a few weeks” after picking up a knee injury during pre-season.
The former Arsenal academy youngster featured in both of the club’s pre-season contests against RB Leipzig and Klagenfurt, during the St Mary’s side’s tour of Austria.
But with Tella not featuring against Watford on Saturday, or in Wednesday night’s 3-1 win over Monaco, Hasenhuttl revealed he was likely to miss the start of the season.
Giving an update on Tella, the Austrian boss said: “He had a knee injury, not too bad but he is out for a few weeks so we will have a look.”
Saints finish their pre-season campaign with a home contest against Villarreal on Saturday.
