FC Nantes of France winger, Moses Simon is making use of the ongoing international break from club football to get himself back into top shape with coordinated drills among a collection of youngsters at a youth club back home in Nigeria.
Simon had been hoping to be part of the Super Eagles’ double-cracker against Sierra Leone in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, but an injury he copped in action with his club ruled him out of the national team’s mission.
Rather than allow the knock hold him down, the former SK Trencin of Slovakia and KAA Gent of Belgium crafty player has now opted for a route back to full fitness under the guidance of some youth football coaches he grew up with in Kaduna.
He got back unto the local pitch exactly after the 13-day spell doctors had told him he would need to recover from fully from an adductor problem he copped on November 1st, which makes it the sixth time he would suffer a serious injury in his entire career.
The dark skinned lad’s injury track dates back to his day at Gent, where he suffered a torn muscle fibre on September 16, 2016 and had to stay out for 14 days, then bowed out again on November 2, 2017 with a foot injury that kept him out for 15 days.
Two injury blights that hit Simon at Gent came on January 9, 2018, when he was out for 52 days with a ligament complaint and a thigh discomfort on May 28, 2018 knocked him out for 28 days, after which he also suffered a blow during his time at UD Levante of Spain, when a hamstring injury hit him on August 13, 2018 and left him sidelines for 38 days.
His latest blow came at the start of this month, just few days after he was named to Nigeria’s list of 24 players invited for the AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone on November 13 in Benin City and Freetown four days later.
Simon was ruled out of the Eagles’ camping after hobbling off in the 25th minute of action with Nantes and had to be replaced in his side’s 3-0 loss to Paris-Saint Germaine in the French Ligue 1, but he has now taken to social media to reveal an update of his recovery process and stated: “Coming back stronger Flexed biceps @SimoibenN.”
