Houston Dash of USA women’s club striker, Michelle Alozie has admitted she was positively shocked with her first ever invitation to Nigeria’s female national team, Super Falcons and declared that she is burning for more of such in months to come.
Speaking against the backdrop of her stunning performances with the Falcons in the 2021 WNT Summer Series Invitational Tournament, the deft attacker, who twinkled on her debut and then pulled off commendable performances, stressed how happy she is with her international bow.
Megasportsarena.com reports that she was able to put up a reflection of how she shone in her junior season at Yale, where she hit home nine goals, provided five assists, garnered 23 points and was named Co-Offensive Player of the Year in Ivy League.
In only her first ever call-up to the Nigerian squad, Alozie became the Falcons’ standout player in their first two games at the Summer Series in the same community where she plies her trade in USA’s Women’s National Soccer League.
The Yale University graduate first thrilled fans on her debut against Jamaica, during which she was close to grabbing an equaliser in the closing minutes of the second half, but her left-footed screamer went off the crossbar.
However, the 24-year-old dazzler was not to be denied a piece of the theatrics of the next game, as she opened her international goals scoring account by pulling a goal back to make it 2-1 just before half-time in Sunday’s 3-3 draw with Portugal.
She also put in a fair shift in the last game versus Tam USA, as she ended up with six points out of ten on the rate cards of various pundits, who were unanimous in their verdicts the rookie had done so much to defy her infantile membership of the Falcons’ squad.
The technical report about Alozie read in part: “Played out of position as a right wing-back, had a tough time dealing with the USA forwards and was embarrassed by the dribble of USA left-back Crystal Dunn which left her sprawling on the ground. 6/10.”
Alozie has now admitted that she was excited beyond expectation with her maiden outing in the Falcons’ call-up, adding: “I was very surprised when I got the call-up so it’s really a big dream for me to be here playing with a lot of people that I looked up to growing up.”
