SSC Napoli of Italy youngster, Michael Folorunsho has sealed a deadline day loan move to Italian lower division, Serie B side, AC Reggina, megasportsarena.com reports.

He takes after Stephen Ayodele Makinwa and Victor Obinna Nsofor as the latest Nigerian player to star for the Regio Emilio-based outfit.

The Maroons excitedly announced their acquisition of the highly promising lad, who is expected to help lift them from the doldrums where they are currently wallowing.

After 20 matches in the second-tier, Reggina occupy 14th position with 23 points, hence their delight in reaching an agreement with Napoli in a temporary transfer of Italian-born Nigeria midfielder Michael Folorunsho.

The agreement between the two clubs will keep the 23-year-old at The Amaranth until June 30, 2022, as he aims to make the best of his fourth loan move since joining Napoli in July 2019 and a return to the club he once starred for in the past.

The promising lad, who also previously spent time at Bari and Pordenone, directly participated in nine goals from 32 appearances during his first spell at Reggina, but he is yet to make his competitive debut for Napoli.

Folorunsho played for Tor Sapienza, Savio and SS Lazio as a youth player before, starting off his professional career at  Virtus Francavilla, where he made 66 appearances, scoring eight goals.

A report by tiforeggina added: “Reggina Sporting Director Massimo Taibi identified Folorunsho to bolster the midfield due to his physicality.

“The 22-year-old joined Lazio in the summer of 2019 before embarking on a two-season loan deal with Bari which runs out at the end of the 2020-2021 season.

“So far this season, the Roma-born midfielder has made 15 appearances for the Biancorossi but he could have been involved in more games if not for an injury he suffered at the beginning of the season that kept him out of action for two months.”
