Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye insists that Nigeria has the pedigree and talents to down all opposition and win the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, Megasportsarena.com reports.
“We are going to the Africa Cup to win the tournament. Nigeria is a great football country, and we have a good team. Let me return to Rotterdam with a prize.”
The Sparta Rotterdam goalie admits it is a dream to play for the African giants and he is convinced that the team has all the qualities to shine at the tournament.
“As a small child, I always looked at that and cheered the Super Eagles. It is a dream come true, so I really hope it continues. It will be one or two days of Christmas and then via Nigeria to Cameroon.”
The Afcon kicks off on January 6 and Nigeria begins its treasure hunt on January 11 against the Pharaohs of Egypt before confronting Sudan and Guinea-Bissau in their last two group games.
