Former Ajax Amsterdam of Holland youth team player, Joel Ideho has gained temporary promotion to the main team at Arsenal of England, following the absences of several players due to the international break from domestic matches this weekend, megasportsarena.com reports.
Ideho is making progress a month after joining Arsenal from Ajax this summer and, rather than leave a vacuum in the squad with trips to national teams by The Gunners’ key layers, coach of the side, Mikel Arteta has decided on promoting the Nigerian-born teenager to join the squad in first team training and make up the numbers.
That began on Thursday, when 13 of Arsenal’s first team players were away on international duties with their respective countries, leaving Arteta with a contingency plan of inviting Ideho and some other promising youth team players to train with the first team at London Colney.
That development saw the 17-year-old Ideho train along with Joe Willock, David Luiz, Willian, Rob Holding, Calum Chambers and Shkodran Mustafi; thereby ringing more hope of better days ahead at Emirates Stadium for the Nigerian-born winger, who Arsenal earlier registered for the English Premier League, League Cup and FA Cup.
Ideho, who had earlier been allocated jersey number 95 jersey for the season, made his official debut for Arsenal’s youth team in a 6-0 rout of Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League 2 a week ago, but he was a non-playing substitute against Liverpool U23s and versus Gillingham United in Papa John’s Trophy competition.
