Glasgow Rangers of Scotland midfielder, Joe Aribo has been named among nominees for The Gers’ best player in the ongoing season, megasportsarena.com reports.
Aribo, though, will have to compete alongside new Super Eagles’ left-back, Calvin Bassey, as both Nigerian stars’ names appeared when their club announced the nominees on their official website.
However, there is no place for their Nigerian teammate and central defender, Leon Aderemi Balogun, who has struggled with injuries this season, while former Flying Eagles’ invitee, Nnamdi Ofoborh is also not listed for the gong.
Aribo and Bassey are up against seven other contenders for Rangers Player of the Year award, namely Connor Goldson, Glen Kamara, Ryan Kent, John Lundstram, Kemar Roofe, Alfredo Morelos and James Tavernier.
The citation read in part: “Aribo (who was named Young Player of the Year for season 2019-2020) was arguably Rangers’ standout player in the first half of the season and has totaled 48 appearances so far this season, with 8 goals, 8 assists.”
