Glasgow Rangers of Scotland midfielder, Joe Aribo is still basking in the euphoria of his stunning goal last weekend in the Scottish Premiership, yet his coach at Ibrox Stadium, Steven Gerrard says the lad has a license to be even more ambitious.
Gerrard disclosed as much while heaping plaudits on the Super Eagles’ dazzler for his efforts in last weekend’s 4-1 trouncing of Ross County, with the Liverpool of England legend admitting his was impressed with what he saw.
The Gers’ gaffer went on to praise the entire team for their superlative performances in the encounter, but he singled out Aribo for special mention, while enthusing that more heroics will soon be seen of the former Charlton Athletic of England youngster.
Megasportsarena.com reports further that Gerrard was beaming with delight after the 25-year-old Aribo opened his goals’ account at the weekend and now his boss at Rangers has backed the versatile midfielder to get more goals this season.
Aribo has made remarkable progress in front of goal since his first season in Scotland when he scored three goals, then netted seven last term, and Gerrard says he is expecting even more in the new campaign.
Gerrard submitted: “It was a fantastic finish and we want him to keep doing that, scoring goals and he has got the license when we name that midfield three to go forward.
“(They should) be a bit more ambitious. We want to be as ruthless in the box as we can be and that is what a Rangers team should look like.”
