Everton of England winger, Alex Iwobi has found his name cited among a plethora of historical facts of the English Premier League, following his late winner against Newcastle United on Thursday, megasportsarena.com reports.
The former Arsenal of England playmaker created a buzz when he struck eight minutes after regulation time, thereby netting one of the very late goals of the league as well as another among few he has at his club’s home ground.
Information on offer from Queensland noted that Iwobi was the hero, as Everton left it late to claim all three points at Goodison Park, where he got his first appearance for The Toffees after being benched for three successive ties in all competitions.
Amazingly, before Thursday’s match, Iwobi had not scored at Goodison Park since netting against Wolverhampton Wanderers on September 1, 2019; while five of his seven goals for Everton were in away matches – two versus Wolves as well as one each past Lincoln City, Fleetwood Town and Huddersfield Town.
However, the story changed drastically when Iwobi skipped past a challenge and exchanged passes with Dominic Calvert-Lewin before driving low into the bottom right corner for Everton’s winning goal.
A report by BBC Sports noted that, at 98 minutes and 19 seconds, Iwobi’s goal was the latest Premier League goal scored since Bruno Fernandes’ 99:45 penalty for Manchester United versus Brighton in September 2020.
