IK Sirius of Sweden attacker, Henry Okechukwu Offia has declared that he and his teammates in Nigeria’s youth national side, Flying Eagles have set for themselves a first target of reaching the quarter-finals at this year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup, then seek better fortunes afterwards.
Speaking ahead of Friday’s last build-up match for the team, against RB Leipzig of Germany, the 20-year-old attacker, who is currently on loan at Sollentuna FK, said the Flying Eagles are all determined to defy all odds to overcome Qatar, USA and Ukraine in their group matches.
He stated further during a chat with Mega Sports on Star 101.5 FM, Lagos that Coach Paul Aigbogun’s side will not be intimidated by any team they meet in Poland, especially USA and Ukraine, which have both been rated very high by pundits, heading into next weekend’s opening match.
Offia has already exhibited a shade of what is expected of him in Poland, as he netted in the Flying Eagles’ first two tune-up games against Saudi Arabia and German lower division club, VfR Aalen.
The Anambra State indegene, who is is regarded as one of the most exciting strikers in Sweden, and is widely celebrated for his Eden Hazard-style of play, style reminiscent to that of Eden Hazard, says the best luck of his career helped him to be part of Aigbogun’s squad to Poland 2019.
The product of Lagos-based Dynamo Football Academy, who caught the eye of Sirius during an exhibition match organised by his youth club officials, will now aim for a big impact from May 23 to June 15 in Poland.
Offia stated: “We don’t care who are group opponents are, USA, Ukraine, or whichever team, our first target is to reach the quarter-finals.
“We don’t care who we will meet in Poland, all we want to do is do well in all our matches and go far in the competition.”
