Aston Villa could lose Carney Chukwuemeka this summer as the highly-rated youngster enters the final year of his contract at Villa Park.
Megasportsarena.com understands that as things stand Chukwuemeka will leave Villa at the end of next season and could sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club in the January transfer window that would see him depart the Second City for nothing. Chukwuemeka ‘s lack of match action this season has put top European clubs on alert.
Chukwuemeka has only made one start in the Premier League this season and it came in the third game of the campaign in a 1-1 draw with Brentford. The 18 year-old’s most recent appearance came in the 1-0 defeat to Newcastle on February 13 when he was given the final five minutes of the defeat at St James’ Park.
Like Chukwuemeka, Jacob Ramsey has also graduated from the Bodymoor Heath academy to become a first-team player, and he has really kicked on under Villa boss Steven Gerrard. Ramsey signed a new contract with Villa last week and Gerrard was asked whether Chukwuemeka was closer to inking fresh terms with the club.
“No, I have no update on Carney’s situation,” Gerrard said. Chukwuemeka is a top talent and was hailed by Villa chief executive Christian Purslow as one of the top players around in his age group.
As a result, Premier League giants Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have all been linked with a move for the central midfielder, while German clubs Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich have also been credited with an interest in Chukwuemeka too. It is being reported that Bundesliga clubs are ‘already’ looking at signing Chukwuemeka this summer.
“We’ve done everything we can from our side to try and make them progress,” Gerrard said of Chukwuemeka in March. “I’m not sure where that’s up to at the moment.”
