Brentford of England midfielder, Frank Onyeka garnered seven points out of ten in his side’s amazing 3-3 draw with visiting Liverpool, while also enacting some daring tackles right from kick-off.
The former FC Midtjylland of Denmark battler was always found in the thick of things, as Yoane Wissa’s late strike earned Brentford a point against Liverpool in a pulsating 3-3 thriller in west London to deny the visitors a much desired victory.
The Super Eagles’ rookie, however, got a 44th minute yellow card and was later replaced in the 68th minute, The Bes held their own to rob The Reds of an away win that would have taken them three points clear at the top of the EPL log.
Man of the match was Vitaly Janelt but it was Wissa’s goal that capped a sensational game of football at the Brentford Community Stadium, where Liverpool twice threw away leads and the Bees ensured they had no regrets come the final whistle.
The hosts had even managed to stun the Premier League leaders early on through Ethan Pinnock’s close-range finish (26) before Diogo Jota levelled things up with a bullet header five minutes later.
David Raya pulled off a wonder save to deny the forward again before half-time, but was beaten by a silky Mohamed Salah finish nine minutes after, only after a VAR check had overturned the assistant referee’s initial decision to deny the goal for offside.
Nine minutes into the second half he was beaten by a wonderfully nonchalant finish by Salah, who was initially denied his 100th top-flight Liverpool goal before a VAR intervention showed he was onside and put him into club record books as the fastest player to achieve the feat for the Reds.
Incidentally, Germany’s national team coach, Hansi Flick was among the spectators at Brentford Community Stadium, where Onyeka was handed his first start this month, replacing Shandon Baptiste in the Bees starting line-up.
A report by allnigeriasoccer.com added: “The Nigeria international had a chance to open the scoring in the 11th minute when he clipped the ball over the Liverpool goalkeeper but Matip prevented the ball from crossing the line.
”On 27 minutes, Pinnock finished from close range to open the scoring but the lead lasted only four minutes as Jota headed in a brilliant cross from Henderson.
“Eight minutes before half-time, Onyeka could have given the Bees the lead but his looping header drifted over the crossbar, before the Super Eagle was booked for bringing down Robertson.”
