Arsenal youth team players, Folarin Balogun and Ryan Alebiosu were both in top form and their efforts helped The Gunners’ under-23 squad snatch a 6-0 thumping of London rivals, Chelsea, megasportsarena.com reports.
With Balogun getting two goals and an assist, while Alebiosu also provided one, Arsenal’s U23s got into full gear and humiliated their counterparts from Chelsea with a 6-1 victory in their Premier League 2 clash.
Soaring on the back of his two-goal performance against Manchester United the previous weekend, Balogun opened scoring for Arsenal, following which the 20-year-old fringe member of The Gunners’ main team turned provider when his cross-field long pass was volleyed home by Mika Biereth.
Charlie Patino, who has also been training with the first-team of recent, played a delightful pass for Balogun to score his second of the game.
The game had a chance to turnaround when Omar Rekik was sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity as he brought down a Chelsea attacker on the edge of the box.
However, The Blues failed to take advantage as Arsenal went 4-0 just before half-time when Ryan Alebiosu set up 18-year-old Biereth for his second goal.
Biereth, signed from Fulham in the summer, grabbed his hat-trick before it became 6-0 with an own goal by Lewis Hall, who then grabbed a consolation goal in what was an embarrassing night for Chelsea.
