Ekong Apologises For Failure To Qualify For World Cup

Super Eagles assistant Captain William Troost-Ekong apologizes to Nigerians following the team’s failure to qualify for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Nigeria lost to Ghana on the away goals rule after forcing the Black Stars to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday at the MKO Abiola national stadium, Abuja. The 1st leg ended 0-0 in Kumasi.

The Watford defender scored the equaliser from the spot after Arsenal’s Thomas Partey shot the Black Stars ahead in the 10th munute.

“To all Nigerians, on behalf of the team, we want to apologise for not securing the World Cup ticket.

Despite giving it everything possible, it wasn’t meant to be.

First and foremost, as Nigerians, we share your emotions and we take our responsibility as a group.

We sincerely thank the Nigerian fans for their overwhelming support, the NFF President who did everything possible to make the qualification happen and of course the Minister.

A bitter pill to swallow but believe me we will be back better and stronger!”
