CSKA Moscow of Russia winger, Chidera Ejuke has disclosed that he is still keeping in touch with his former club, SC Hereveen of Holland, even as he also admitted he was touted with a move to their Dutch Eredivisie rivals, Feyenoord before heading to The Armymen instead.
Megasportsarena.com reports that the 22-year-old confirmed that Feyenoord almost hooked him in a summer deal before he sealed a transfer to his current Moscow-based Russian Premier League club in the summer transfer window.
Ejuke enjoyed a breakout season in Holland last term, as he scored 10 goals in total across the league and Cup competitions, while also producing six assists in 29 appearances, and it was certain before the curtains fell that the former Golden Eaglets’ invitee would be on his way out during the transfer market.
It has now been learnt that Feyenoord held preliminary talks with Ejueke’s representatives to find out Heerenveen’s asking price and it is believed they were priced out of a deal for the dazzling youngster and CSKA eventually paid roughly 12 million euros for his signature.
On Wednesday, Ejuke returned to Holland to play against Feyenoord, who beat CSKA 3-1 in the UEFA Europa League after scoring three goals in the space of nine minutes in the second half, following which the crafty lad admitted he felt deflated, while also chipping in a word for Heerenveen, who continue doing well as they did with him last season.
Ejuke told FOX Sports: “I follow them on Instagram, I watch their games. I am still looking at them and they’ve been doing really good this season. I think it is a positive for them. I don’t know exactly what happened, but I know (Feyenoord) were interested. Now I play for CSKA, that’s the most important thing.
