Bournemouth of England striker, Dominic Solanke has been nominated for the prestigious award of the best player in the lower division English Championship for he ongoing season, megasportsarena.com reports.
With Solanke’s name listed among the nominees, the Nigerian-born former England youth international is on the verge of receiving a memorable gong in reward for his stunning performances this season.
Indeed, the member of England’s winning team at the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup, who previously starred for Chelsea and Liverpool, has been in stunning form for The Cherries in the ongoing campaign, with 24 goals in 39 appearances.
His name, therefore, stood out among a roster featuring two other Nigerian-born lads, as England’s Football League revealed nominees for the 2022 EFL Awards taking place at Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane next Sunday.
Solanke is one of three players shortlisted for Championship Player of the Season, meaning he will have to see off competition from Fulham’s duo of Aleksander Mitrovic and Harry Wilson.
A report by allnigeriasoccer.com added: “Leyton Orient’s Republic of Ireland youth teamer Shadrach Ogie has been nominated for the Sky Bet League Two Young Player of the Season.
“A left-sided central defender, Ogie broke into the starting lineup of Leyton Orient this season and has 32 appearances to his name in the third tier, of which twenty seven were starts.
“Also on the list of nominees for League Two YPOTS are Finn Azaz (Newport County) and Connor Taylor (Bristol Rovers).
“Promising Charlton Athletic defender Deji Elerewe is up against Freddie Draper (Lincoln City) and Michael Williams (Crewe Alexandra) for the LFE Apprentice of the Season League One.
“The 18-year-old Elerewe, who has made 11 appearances for the first team of the Addicks this term, will be hoping to emulate former Charlton Athletic winger Ademola Lookman, who was named LFE Apprentice of the Year for the Championship in 2016.”
