Barnsley of England sensation, Daryl Dike has popped into the spotlight of a likely move to join Super Eagles’ vice-captain, William Troost-Ekong at Watford, megasportsarena.com reports.
Dike is surging on the gains of a very prolific season with Barnsley in the English Championship, and the next level for him could be a deal with The Hornets.
That would also see him join the Nigerian legion at Vicarage Road that also includes Joseph Hungbo, Isaac Success and Tom Dele-Bashiru, who are facing tough days at the former club of Odion Jude Ighalo.
However, the success that Troost-Ekong gained with the same club this past season could be a huge morale booster for the younger brother of former Super Eagles’ striker, Bright Dike to accept a deal with Watford.
This is sequel to a report out of England indicating that Watford are the latest club to be linked with a move for Dike, with top sports newspaper, The Athletic revealing that his name has been added to list of players wanted by The Hornets in the summer transfer window.
The budging striker, who was born to Nigerian parents in Orlando City, USA, joins Cercle Brugge of Belgium attacker, Ike Ugbo, who is on loan from Chelsea of England, in being linked with a likely move to Watford in recent weeks.
Watford, though, are already facing competition for Dike’s signature, as Manchester United, Chelsea, Leeds United and Everton are among other English Premier League clubs that are also keen on a deal for the 21-year-old prodigy.
He has, however, since returned to Orlando City in USA’s Major League Soccer (MLS), after spending the second half of last season on loan at Barnsley, with which he scored nine goals in 19 appearances and, despite having played on 44 games as a professional, he is already valued at £14m.
