Barnsley of England striker, Daryl Dike knocked home his eighth goal of the season in the English Championship and helped his side stay on course for promotion to the top-flight league, after which he confessed that he would love to join Chelsea.
The in-form attacker, who was born in United States of America and is a sibling to the duo of former Super Eagles’ attacker, Bright Dike and ex-Super Falcons’ youngster, Courtney Dike, enacted his latest goal of the campaign in grand style.
Megasportsaena.com reports that it came after Dike rose well in the box to strike home acrobatically with a stylish overhead kick that helped Barnsley get victory away to Huddersfield Town and stay on course for promotion to the English Premier League.
Dike’s eighth goal of the season came after the lad on loan from Orlando City of USA struck in the 65th minute, to help Barnsley maintain a grip on fifth spot and remain in the promotion play-offs bracket with 74 points from 43 matches.
It also marked another step forward for the Nigerian-born USA international, who has played two friendly matches for the Americans and has been in great form since his January transfer deadline day move to Barnsley.
From 15 games under his boots in the second tier of English football, Dike has scored eight goals in 1,029 minutes of action, which has attracted transfer interest from Leeds United, Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham United, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Chelsea, ahead of the summer market.
Dike, though, confessed that he would prefer a move to Stamford Bridge, as he disclosed how he was a fan of The Blues as a child and the barging attacker told Sky Sports: “I’ve grown up as a Chelsea fan my entire life.
“My parents and brother are big Arsenal fans, but I was always a Chelsea fan, I don’t know why! But there was always a little rivalry there in the household. I like [Didier] Drogba as well. Him and [Romelu] Lukaku are big target No 9s and people I made my game after.”
