Two former teammates were on song for their clubs in Netherlands and Belgium, as Cyriel Dessers returned to scoring form with Feyenoord, while Paul Ebere Onuachu hit another sizzler with Racing Genk, megasportsarena.com reports.
While Onuachu is back doing what he loves doing best in the Jupiler League, where he emerged top scorer last season, his former teammate at Gent, Dessers has hit the ground running since returning to Netherlands this summer.
The latest heroics from the former Dutch Eredivisie top scorer came on Sunday, as he netted one and provided an assist in seven minutes of action, as he marked a glorious debut for Feyenoord.
Dessers, who is on loan from Genk, got off the bench in the 83rd minute, yet had enough time to notch his first goal back in Netherlands and then get an assist for his team’s third goal moments later.
In Belgium, Onuachu netted another late goal to hand Genk all three points against Sint-Truiden during their encounter at Stadion Stayen, where he scored the winning goal when he struck into the far corner from a tight angle in the 83rd minute.
It was handsome continuum for Onuachu, who has made hay in his last five games in the Belgian top-flight, as he failed to get on the scoresheet just once, which was against RSC Anderlecht three weeks ago.
Dramatically, former teammate of Dessers and Onuachu at Genk, Stephen Odey, who is now on loan at Randers of Denmark, contributed to his side’s 3-2 win over FC Nordsjælland on his debut at Cepheus Park.
The former Mountain of Fire & Miracles Ministry (MFM) FC of Lagos and FC Zurich of Switzerland youngster almost scored a hat-trick in the closing minutes, after he was fed by Tosin Kehinde, but saw his effort saved by the visitors’ goalkeeper.
Odey, though, had earlier broken the deadlock after seven minutes and restored Randers’s two-goal advantage when he headed home in the 35th minute via a free-kick on the edge of the box from Johnsen.
In Sweden, IFK Norrköping striker, Samuel Adegbenro continues raining goals in the Swedish Allsvenskan, as he hit home his 11th of the season to help his side thrash Orebro 3-0.
In making waves during the game at PlatinumCars Arena, Adegbenro maintained his fine vein of form, as he has either scored or assisted in his last eight games in The Land of The Midnight Sun.
