Crystal Palace of England dazzler, Chidiebere Eze has taken over the London-based club’s number 10 jersey for the new season in the English Premier League, megasportsarena.com reports.
Information on offer from Selhurst Park indicates that the former Queens Park Rangers of England attacking-midfielder, who donned jersey number 25 last time out, will now appear in the iconic figure all through the new campaign.
The report adds that Eze got the leverage after number 10 became vacant at Palace, following the departure of Andros Townsend to Everton and Eze, who is set to feature in his second season with the club, has taken over the garb for the new campaign.
It is, however, a return to wearing number 10 for Eze, who donned the same figure during his last two seasons with QPR, before sealing a transfer to Palace last summer, and he will now aim to follow the heroics of the club’s legends that previously wore the same on their back.
Among them are Ian Wright, Yannick Bolasie, Fraizer Campbell, Owen Garvan, Nick Carle , Clinton Morrison and Marco Gabbiadini, who Eze will gain inspiration from, while his Nigerian-born pal, Michael Olise has been assigned jersey number seven.
However, while Olise is ready to explode and make the best of his summer arrival from Reading, Eze is still recovering from a long-term injury he suffered in training towards the end of last term and will play no part in Palace’s opening match of the new season away to Chelsea on Saturday.
