Borussia Dortmund have moved quickly to bolster their attacking ranks with the signing of 20-year-old Germany international Karim Adeyemi from Red Bull Salzburg, Megasportsarena.com reports.
Adeyemi signs a five-year deal at the Signal Iduna Park after an impressive 2021/22 campaign with Red Bull Salzburg that has seen him involved in 25 goals in 39 appearances for the Austrian champions.
The Bundesliga side see him as replacement for Erling Haaland, whose switch to Manchester City was confirmed just hours earlier.
They’ve wasted little time in sourcing themselves a replacement, with Adeyemi passing his medical and putting pen to paper on a five-year contract on today (Tuesday).
“As a young boy I was fascinated by the Black & Yellows’ fast-paced football,” Adeyemi said. “That’s why, as soon as I heard Dortmund were interested in me, I knew I wanted to sign with BVB.
“I made the conscious decision to sign a long-term deal because I’m convinced that we’re going to form an exciting team, that with the support of the amazing fans in Dortmund will be able to compete for and win titles in the years to come.’’
Adeyemi began his career at TSV Forstenried before joining the youth ranks of Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, where he spent two years from age eight to 10-years-old from 2010/12.
He then made the move to Unterhaching before swapping his homeland for neighbouring Austria, where he has been a revelation.
Dortmund have been incredibly busy ahead of this summer, with Adeyemi following Niklas Süle and Nico Schlotterbeck in agreeing moves to Signal Iduna Park.
