It was harvest of goals for Nigerian players in the third-tier UEFA Conference League, as Taiwo Awoniyi, Stephen Odey and Ezekiel Henry (Henty) all got goals for their respective clubs on Thursday.
Megasportsarena.com reports that leading the way was in-form Awoniyi, as the UAE 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist took his tally for the season to ten goals in all competitions.
However, his latest goal for FC1. Union Berlin of Germany came in a 3-1 loss away to Feyenoord of Holland, as Awoniyi struck ten minutes before half-time.
The recently capped Nigeria international pulled a goal back when he headed into the net for his 10th goal of the season in the 35th minute after Feyenoord raced to a two-goal lead.
Odey also made hay in Group D, as the former Mountain of Fire & Miracles Ministry (MFM) FC of Lagos, FC Zurich of Switzerland and Racing Genk of Belgium youngster continued his fine form with his eighth goal of the season in all competitions.
His latest effort with Randers of Denmark helped his side force a 2-2 draw with Jablonec, as Odey netted a penalty in the 90th minute and another goal in the 35th minute, to cancel out a brace by Cvancara.
Henty made his mark in Group F, when the former AC Milan of Italy and Lokomotiv Moscow of Russia whiz-kid doubled the advantage in the 84th minute for Slovan Bratislava in their 2-0 victory over visiting Lincoln Red Imps.
His goal at Národný Futbalový Štadión in Bratislava was Henty’s sixth in three different European competitions this season, having also previously netted in the qualifying stages of the Europa League and Champions League.
