The secretary general of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr Sanusi Mohammed on Sunday led the barrage of mourning for Audu Adamu ‘Ejo,’ late coach of the country’s beach soccer national team, Super Sand Eagles, by describing him as a very dedicated man.
With the nation’s football community once again throw into mourning over the passing of another renowned tactician, Sanusi went on to eulogize ‘Ejo’ for having done a great job in taking Nigeria to greater height in the annals of beach football worldwide.
Megasportsarena.com reports that Sanusi added that everyone connected with Nigerian football is immensely pained by news of the death of the Sand Eagles’ head coach, who led the team to several World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations campaigns.
In the wake of reports that Adamu Ejo lost the battle against diabetes on Saturday evening, Sanusi added that he is left with fond memories of how the coach led Nigeria to the quarter–finals of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Ravenna, Italy 10 years ago.
He also recounted how the coach won several medals in the Beach Soccer AFCON and led his boys to outings at the Copa Lagos as well as FIFA World Cups in Samoa, Bahamas and Paraguay.
Sanusi concluded: “It is very painful for us at the NFF. Coach Adamu was a very dedicated head of the technical crew of our Beach Soccer Team. He won several laurels with the team and was a highly disciplined and dedicated individual.
“The NFF never had any serious issues with him all through the years he spent with the Super Sand Eagles. He did his job quietly and never courted undue limelight.
“He was very hard working, energetic and committed to beach soccer, and was simple, humble and humane. Nigerian Football will miss him.
“We love him but God loves him more. We pray that God grants him eternal rest and also grant the family and loved ones he has left behind eternal rest.”
