Ashleigh Plumptre Braves Head Injury To Make Herself Available For Nigeria

Leicester City Ladies of England attacker, Ashleigh Plumptre has pushed aside worries over a recent head injury she copped in action with her club, as she has made herself available for Nigeria’s upcoming international friendlies against Canada.

Megasportsarena.com gathered that Plumptre was omitted from The Foxes squad for the English Women’s Super League clash against Arsenal on Sunday due to a head injury she suffered against Chelsea on March 27.

However, despite the scare that injury caused at King Power Stadium, Leicester allowed Plumptre make the trip out of England to join the Falcons squad for two friendlies against the reigning Olympic Games champions.

The Falcons will face their Canadian hosts at BC Place in Vancouver this Friday, then battle same team three days later at Langford’s Starlight Stadium on Vancouver Island.

Both games will accord Plumptre further opportunities to excel in green-and-white, as the former England youth international impressed on her Nigeria debut against Ivory Coast in a 2022 African Women’s Cup of Nations qualifier last month.

Although she marred her outing by giving away a penalty during the reverse fixture in Abidjan, she has the chance to atone for it by excelling in the next game, as Nigeria begin preparations for this summer’s AWCON in Morocco.

Plumptre has already spoken of her desire to keep impressing in order to convince Falcons’ American coach, Randy Waldrum that she deserves a place in the squad to Morocco 2022, which will also be Africa’s qualifiers for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
