Glasgow Rangers of Scotland midfielder, Joe Aribo has received a double-dose of motivation to excel in Sunday’s Scottish FA Cup semi-final clash with Celtic, following accolades from a top ex-international and best player rating by a leading football statistics website.
The game comes few hours after Aribo gained a best player rating by Whoscored.com and words of praise from former Manchester United of England battler, Owen Hargreaves ahead of his side’s derby on Sunday.
Megasportsarena.com reports that Aribo will be buoyed to step up his game and put in more effort for The Gers, when they tango their fellow-Glasgow-based rivals, following heaps of praise coming his way from Hargreaves.
The former England international was reeling lyrical after seeing Aribo in stunning form for Rangers against Sporting Braga in the UEFA Europa League, much to the admiration of the once bubbling battler.
Hargreaves, who also made top marks for Bayern Munich of Germany during his heyday, gushed over what he saw from Aribo on Thursday, as the Super Eagles’ dazzler spurred Rangers to a 3-1 win at Ibrox Stadium.
The 25-year-old Aribo provide assists for Rangers’ first and third goals, after which he was named in the Europa League Team of the Week by Whoscored.com, which singled him out as the best rated player.
That should be an extra boost for Aribo, who has eight goals and 10 so far this season, thereby marking his career-best in a single campaign, and the former Charlton Athletic playmaker will be hoping to deliver again on Sunday.
Aribo will be further propelled by the steaming words of Hargreaves, who hinted that he would be expecting more heroics from the Eagles’ star when Rangers face off with Celtic at Hampden Park.
Hargreaves told BT Sport: “There were so many great performances. Kemar Roofe deserved his goal, Aaron Ramsey had his best performance in a Rangers shirt and Joe Aribo was absolutely terrific, got a couple of assists.”
