Troost-Ekong, Samuel Kalu Ruled Out With Injury, Onyeka Also Unavailable

Watford of England duo of William Troost-Ekong and Samuel Kalu are both out injured and will not be in action this Saturday against Brentford Town, who will also be without Frank Ogochukwu Onyeka for the English Premier League fixture.

Megasportsarena.com reports that, with Troost-Ekong suffering a hamstring complaint and Kalu nursing a niggling ankle injury, the duo have already been ruled out of action at Vicarage Road, while Onyeka is also lacking in full fitness for the game.

Consequently, the only Nigerian presence to follow in Saturday’s game will be Emmanuel Dnnis Bonaventure and Peter Oghenekaro Etebo on The Hornets’ side; as Kalu, William Troost-Ekong, and Onyeka will not be involved.

Dennis, who has nine goals from 29 appearances, is available to feature, but Brentford’s coach, Thomas Frank confirmed that Onyeka will remain sidelined and will thus miss the visit to face Watford.

Heading into the game, Watford’s coach, Roy Hodgson has confirmed the absence of Kalu and Troost-Ekong ahead of the home fixture which they have to win to keep alive their hopes of avoiding relegation.

It is another blow for Kalu, who has only two appearances for The Hornets since joining from Bordeaux at the start of the season while Troost-Ekong has managed 16 appearances.

“Samuel Kalu has got an ankle injury. Will Troost-Ekong is suffering from a slight hamstring strain – we don’t think it’s major but it’s too early to risk him.

“I don’t think it’s going to put him out for a long period of time but it’s put those four out of contention for a place this weekend,” Hodgson told Watford’s official website.

Onyeka will also be absent for the visitors, which is another setback for the 24-year-old midfielder, who has only managed one goal from 20 appearances since joining The Bees from FC Midtjylland of Denmark.

Brentford’s coach declared: “Frank [Onyeka] will still be out. We hope that he will be back before the end of the season. Pontus Jansson is ready to play again.”
