Ajax Amsterdam of Holland star, Dušan Tadić has declared that his side did not deserve to be thrown out of the UEFA Champions League by Tottenham Hotspur of England, as he believes they gave the game the best they could, as they aimed to reach the final on June 1 in Madrid.
Tadić and his teammates were left aghast, after Tottenham stormed back from a three-goal deficit to turn the table within only 45 minutes of the second half fo their semi-final fixture in Amsterdam, and the Serbian midfielder admits it was a very sad night in his career.
Having won the first leg 1-0 away in North London in the semi-final first leg, Ajax were 2-0 up by half-time – 3-0 on aggregate – looking destined to reach their first Champions League final since 1996, only for the side that sent out Real Madrid and Juventus to later on crumble.
In his reaction, Tadić added that there are no words to describe the way he felt and the level of his sadness after Lucas Moura’s hat-trick and very dramatic injury time goal ended Ajax’s Champions League dream.
Megasportsarena.com reports that Moura stepped up for Spurs and completed a second-half hat-trick to make it 3-2 in the 96th minute to eliminate Ajax from the competition on away goals.
Asked if he had experienced anything like this in football, the former Southampton forward said: “Never. There is not words to describe this.
“It is very sad, very bad. I think we did not deserve that this happened to us. When you get the feeling that deserve something and you don’t get it, then you are always disappointed and mad.”
