Former Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia attacker, Ahmed Musa is reportedly holding out for a big money to finally cap his career, as the Super Eagles’ captain appears resigned to the fate of ebbing quality, megasportsarena.com reports.
With the erstwhile fleet-footed winger-cum-attacker failing to earn regular starting spots with both club and country, he ended up falling out with Al-Nassr after just over two years with the Saudi Super League club and eventually called it quit last weekend.
However, many odds are already rolling out against the former Kano Pillars, VV Van Venlo of Holland, CSKA Moscow of Russia and Leicester City of England star over his next port of call, such that suggestions have emerged that he will only seek a deal where he would get a lot of cash in what could possibly be his last transfer before hanging his boots.
Before losing relevance at Al-Nassr, Musa had been the Riyadh-based club’s highest earner, after he signed a four-year contract soon after his heroics at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, in a deal that included several adds-on and huge performance-related bonuses.
However, Musa’s lucrative contract was cancelled after he failed to meet expectations at the club, which last season lost the Saudi title to their bitter rivals, Al Hilal, thereby leaving the stage set for the exit of Nigeria’s captain, who has also been struggling for form in the national team, but is now aiming for a final hurrah in one of the world’s minor money-spinning leagues.
Details of this development have been forwarded in a report by a leading Nigerian all-soccer website, which disclosed that Musa’s next transfer will be to any club that can offer him the biggest package in the twilight of his career.
A source informed SCORENigeria: “At 28, Ahmed is out to secure his financial future and he will accept the biggest bid. He has already been linked with some top Turkish clubs, but these clubs do not have the cash they had two years ago. It is most likely that he could be headed again to Asia, who still value his profile.”
