UD Almeria of Spain striker, Umar Sadiq is facing a very expensive blockage in his desire for a summer transfer from the second division club, as officials of the team have attached a hefty fee to his name, megasportsarena.com reports.
In furtherance of their determination not to sell the former AS Roma and Bologna of Italy, Glasgow Rangers of Scotland and Partizan Belgrade of Serbia striker for cheap, Almeria sensationally rejected a 16m euro bid for the lanky lad.
Although the deal would have seen the Rio 2016 Olympic Games bronze medalist play in the Spanish LaLiga with Getafe, Almeria opted to play hardball over an agreement, as they insisted that the striker’s value is 60m euro.
The lower division side equally aim to make a hefty profit on the tall Sadiq, who netted 22 goals in all competitions last season, but could not help the team achieve their ambition of staging a return to the Spanish top division.
A report by Estadiodeportivo has now revealed that that Almeria will not listen to any offers below their bench mark, which is the same message they have handed over to the duo of Valencia and Sevilla that are also interested in the Kaduna-born lad
While Almeria regard him as a key player to their return to LaLiga next season, Getafe hope for an improved performance in the top-flight and believe that Sadiq can get them the haul of goals that is needed to make their targets come to fruition.
With that objective in view, transfer sources say Getafe have not given up the chase for the dark-skinned striker, who fired 20 goals in Segunda Liga, even as the under-23 national team, Olympic Eagles’ former hitman, who is currently on holiday in Kaduna, is keeping his fingers crossed.
A source close to the player told SCORENigeria that indications are strong that Sadiq will make the move to LaLiga this summer, but Sadiq remained curt in his response, as he simply retorted: “Everything depends on my club Almeria.”
