The trio of Leon Balogun, Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo were in action for Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers in the quarterfinals, first leg of the UEFA Europa League match against Portuguese side Braga, who pipped them 1-0 at the Estadio de Municipal des Braga, Megasportsarena.com reports.

The Gers players were some of Nigerian players involved in action for their clubs on Thursday night in Europe’s second and third tier club competitions.

Both Balogun and Bassey started the game but Aribo was introduced in the 62nd minute in place of Ryan Jack.

Braga got the only goal of the match in the 40th minute through Abel Ruiz.

Balogun was replaced in the second half but Bassey, who started at left back but played the latter part of the game in central defence, impressively bringing the ball out of the team’s half was in action throughout the duration of the game.

Elsewhere, Nigerian duo, Peter Olayinka and Collins Sor scored for Slavia Prague in a 3-3 thriller against Feyenoord, in the first leg of their Europa Conference League quarter-final match.

Cyriel Dessers provided the assist for one of Feyenoord’s goal.

Olayinka drew Slavia Prague level on 41 minutes before Sor put the Czech Republic side 2-1 ahead in the 67th minute.

Dessers who came on in the 64th minute then set up teammate Marcos Senesi who made it 2-2 in the 74th minute.

With four minutes left to play Orkun Kokcu scored to put Feyenoord 3-2 but five minutes into added time Ibrahim Traore equalized for Slavia Prague thanks to an assist from Sor.

Olayinka’s goal against Feyenoord was his fourth in the Europa Conference League this season while Sor bagged his sixth goal in the competition.

Kelechi Iheanacho saw action for 67 minutes as Leicester City played a goalless draw with PSV.

Iheanacho almost gave The Foxes the lead in the 38th minute but his low drive shot failed to beat PSV goalkeeper, Yvon Mvogo.

He later made way for compatriot Ademola Lookman after putting in a decent shift.

Lookman’s introduction sparked new life to the attack but the PSV defence was solid at the back.

Nonso Madueke operated from the right side of attack for PSV for 82 minutes and was a torn for Leicester defence. He was substituted by Portuguese international Bruma.
