New arrival at Slavia Prague of Czech Republic, Ubong Ekpai has declared that he wants to help the club retain the East European country’s league title that they won last season, megasportsarena.com reports.
Fortunately, the 25-year-old former under-23 national team, Olympic Eagles’ invitee will have support from a compatriot in the mission ahead of him, as he links forces with Peter Olayinka at the Prague-based club.
Ekpai is also line to feature in the qualifying rounds of next season’s UEFA Champions League, ahead of which he has joined arrives at Slavia on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Viktoria Plzeň.
The deal also means last season’s UEFA Europa League quarter-finalists will keep Ekpai until end of the 2023/24 season, while hoping to get the best out of the former Kano Pillars and Akwa United of Uyo star.
The midfielder-cum-forward, who has also enjoyed spells with Maccabi Haifa, Slovan Liberec and Fastav Zlín is also looking for the best with his new club,m as he declared enthusiastically that he will help the team become back-to-back Czech League champions.
Ekpai stressed: “Slavia won the league and I suppose there is a difficult season ahead of us. We will have to fight to reach again everything we want. My dream is to defend the title with Slavia, defend the Cup and win all available trophies.
“I am looking forward to the cooperation with Slavia coaching staff. Manager Trpišovský is like my father. I have played under his guidance already in Liberec. He knows me and we both know what to expect from each other.”
