Watford of England defender, William Troost-Ekong has reeled a line of strategies he believes will help the Super Eagles get victory away to Sierra Leone on Tuesday, as he says they will have to be more spirited and professional in their approach to the game, megasportsarena.com reports.
While admitting that the Eagles allowed overconfidence and laxity overwhelm them, as they gave away a four-goal lead to eventually settle for a 4-4 draw at home with the same side on Friday, the Eagles’ vice-captain promised that they will do better in the reverse fixture.
He pointed out that all the Eagles’ players and coaches want to be at the next Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, hence his assurance that they will step up their efforts, ginger their spirits and put on the right attitude that would help them turn the tables against The Leone Stars when they tango this Tuesday at Siaka Stephens Stadium in Freetown.
The former Tottenham Hotspur of England youth team player, who has also featured in the past for Haugesund of Norway, Dordrecht of Holland, KAA Gent of Belgium, Bursaspor of Turkey and Udinese of Italy, added that the Eagles will be professional in their approach to the next game.
Although he opined that inexperience was also part of their undoing on Friday, Troost-Ekong stressed that they will find solutions to the errors they made during the game in the Edo State capital and declared that they will find a better strategy before the reverse fixture on Tuesday.
Troost-Ekong submitted: “We’re so disappointed. If anything, we are the most disappointed. We have to learn, we have a young team. We saw some things that were not good enough, we spent (time) talking about those things and we have a quick turnaround as we play again.
“We have to try and learn from our mistakes and be ready for the next one. You can see what we did in the first half, what kind of quality we have in this team so we have to ginger ourselves and have to be more professional, I think if we can do that we’ll be ready.”
