Toyosi Olusanya has left Middlesbrough to join St Mirren

The Nigerian is hoping to be able to kick-start his career in the Scottish Premier League after completing a permanent move from Middlesbrough to St Mirren, reports Megasportsarena.com.

Olusanya only joined Boro last summer, with Neil Warnock plucking the 24-year-old from non-league Billericay Town in order to hand him his first opportunity in the Football League.

The forward made three substitute appearances last term, as well as featuring for the Under-23s on a regular basis, but was not even making the matchday squad under current boss Chris Wilder.

As a result, he has been allowed to join St Mirren, signing a two-year deal to become the Paisley club’s fourth signing of the summer.

“It feels great and I’m happy to have things done early,” said Olusanya.

“The manager has really sold this place to me and I’ve met some of the staff already and everyone seems lovely so I can’t wait to get started.”

Olusanya began his career with AFC Wimbledon, and ended up at Boro via spells in non-league with Walton Casuals, Fleet Town, Gosport Borough, Cheshunt and Billericay Town.

“Toyosi is someone I’ve watched for a while and I’m delighted to have him here on a permanent contract,” said St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson.

“He can play anywhere across the front three, is strong, lightning quick and gives us that option to put the ball in behind.

“I believe we have gained a real asset and he’ll add to the competition at the top end of the park.”
